Contemporary Art Markets

A comprehensive 6-session course examining the structures, economics, and key players that shape the contemporary art market, from galleries and auction houses to art fairs and the complex dynamics of valuation and distribution.

Through critical analysis of market mechanisms, participants will explore how contemporary art is legitimized not only through discourse but through its systems of production, exhibition, circulation, and commercialization. Topics include the relationship between market actors and institutions, factors affecting artwork pricing, branding in the art world, and the particularities of the Mexican art market context.
